The firm will increase its ethylene oxide processing capacity by 20%

Sterigenics International, a global provider of contract sterilisation, gamma technologies and medical isotopes, and a portfolio company of Warburg Pincus and GTCR, has expanded its facility in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The firm says the expansion will increase ethylene oxide processing capacity by 20% and allow for an additional 20% in the future.

Construction will be completed by the first quarter of 2017.

'This expansion represents the continued execution of our growth strategy,' said Michael Mulhern, CEO of Sterigenics International. 'We will continue to pursue high impact acquisitions such as the recent addition of Nelson Laboratories, while at the same time, expanding our existing capabilities.'

Philip Macnabb, President of Sterigenics International, said the expansion at Wiesbaden is in response to growing demand for ethylene oxide processing in Western Europe, and will not only address short term needs, but also allow for growth for the future.

This first part of the expansion will increase capabilities across all phases of ethylene oxide processing, from pre-conditioning, to chamber space and aeration.

Opened in 2006, Sterigenics Wiesbaden provides routine ethylene oxide processing, rapid turnaround STAT service, process validation and laboratory testing.
