Lonza launches rapid microbial detection solutions
Swiss-based global life science company Lonza has introduced an improved microbiology testing kit using breakthrough technology to detect viable organisms without pre-enrichment.
The microCompass Total Yeast and Mold Count (TYMC) kit is the second product in the Compass series. The first was launched last year.
The microCompass is used for the universal detection of yeast and mold RNA by Real-Time Reverse Transcriptase (RT) PCR and is the only genetic-based test on the market to quantify yeast and mold, says Lonza.
The new kit can produce results in four hours compared to the standard method for yeast and mold, which can take three to days to produce results.
“We are excited to offer this latest innovation in rapid microbial detection solutions. Early indications show customers appreciate the speed and accuracy microCompass TYMC provides,’ said president of Lonza Bioscience Shawn Cavanagh.
Lonza became the first bioscience company to provide a molecular testing method to attain a viable count of microorganisms in as little as four hours. The microCompass system dramatically increased the speed for microbiology testing. microCompass TYMC is an exciting new addition.
The microCompass system allows quantitative detection of bacteria, yeast and mold at a high throughput-level by batching up to 96 samples at a time. Quick time to results (TTR) with microCompass
The system is ideal for applications in personal care products, pharmaceutical raw materials, over-the-counter drugs, nutraceuticals, preservative efficacy test and cell culture.
