New research facility at Karolinska Institutet is equipped with four autoclaves and two CM320 multichamber washer-disinfectors from Getinge

Karolinska Institutet, Sweden's medical university, has built a brand new laboratory called Biomedicum. The facility has been designed for experimental research.

With over 65,000 sq m, Biomedicum is said to be one of Europe's largest and most modern laboratories, occupying over 1,600 scientists and supporting staff. Biomedicum is a multi-disciplinary life science hub with various departments involved, such as Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology, Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, Physiology and Pharmacology, Neuroscience and Cell and Molecular Biology.

Getinge was enlisted as a supplier to Biomedicum because of its expertise in serilisation autoclaves for the life science industry.

“We have installed four autoclaves and two CM320 multichamber washer-disinfectors that are now validated together with the customer”, says Björn Asking, Project Manager Global Sales who is co-ordinating large installation projects on the Swedish market.

He explains that the Getinge design team worked with the architects at Karolinska Institutet to create the best possible workflow throughout the sterile central to make sure that the chemical equipment quickly gets cleaned and sterilised, ready to be used again.

We have the right resources, on the right locations, to solve the customer’s service requests rapidly

“Now that Biomedicum has opened we will keep providing service and safety inspections on the Getinge products. We have the right resources, on the right locations, to solve the customer’s service requests rapidly", says Björn.

"It’s natural for us to stand by our customers every step of the way – from design, throughout the installation process – and then continuing to provide the service they need”.
