Several of Contec’s formulations are registered and proven effective virucides
The recent discovery and spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus-Wuhan (2019-nCoV) is currently the subject of an active CDC investigation. Authorities around the world are expressing concern with those travelling to and from the area.
The majority of cases are in China; however, there are confirmed cases in other countries including Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, France, Germany and the US. The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially declared this outbreak a global emergency.
Contec said in a statement: “In anticipation of questions from our valued customers regarding the efficacy of our disinfectants as relates to the 2019-nCoV, we are providing the following summary of our proprietary chemistries and their known performance against this pathogen and similar enveloped viruses.”
“In short, several of our EPA-registered, US formulations including PREempt, and the newly released intermediate disinfectant, CyQuanol, should prove effective when used in accordance with their labelling against the recently identified 2019-nCoV and similar enveloped strains of coronavirus,” the statement said.
The statement concluded by saying: “Notably, our EU-approved chemistries – ProChlor and HydroPure – are registered and proven effective virucides.”
The following products have demonstrated effectiveness against viruses similar to the 2019 novel coronavirus-Wuhan (also 2019-nCoV) on hard, nonporous surfaces. Therefore can be used against 2019 novel coronavirus-Wuhan (also 2019-nCoV).
