igus has reported €1.105 billion in sales for 2024 and a 5% increase in active customers, despite global economic headwinds

igus, a Germany-based lubrication-free motion plastics specialist, has surpassed sales of  €1.1 billion and a record 277 new products launched in 2025.

Despite the ongoing geopolitical and economic challenges, the company achieved a modest decline in turnover of just 2.5%, maintaining its status as a key player in the global motion plastics industry.

For 2024, igus recorded €1.105 billion in sales, alongside a notable 5% increase in its active customer base, underscoring its resilience and customer-centric approach. 

The company’s continuous focus on innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction has allowed it to remain competitive even amid a difficult economic landscape.

igus’s commitment to research and development is evident in its record 277 new motion plastics products, which are set to define the future of lubrication-free solutions. 

These innovations include PTFE-free materials, a complete energy chain series made from recycled materials, and even the development of a humanoid robot.

In line with its sustainability agenda, igus is pushing forward with its “GO ZERO Lubrication” initiative, aiming to offer environmentally friendly solutions without compromising performance.

The company has also made substantial investments in its global infrastructure. Over the past five years, igus has invested more than €350 million in its Cologne campus alone, enhancing its production facilities, laboratories, and overall research capabilities. 

The Cologne site now spans approximately 218,000 square metres, featuring a state-of-the-art 20,000 square-metre production hall and the largest industry test laboratory, covering nearly 5,500 square metres.

In Shanghai, China, igus is expanding its branch from 25,000 to 70,000 square metres, while a new 16,000-square-metre campus in Bangalore has tripled the company's production capacity in India. 

In the US, igus has introduced injection moulding and is now setting up lead screw production, as well as opening a customer testing area for low-cost robotics.

Michael Blass, CEO of e-chain systems at igus, said: “The customer is at the centre of all our activities. Our investments are strategically placed to ensure we are as close to our customers as possible, offering solutions tailored to their needs.”

In addition to its international ventures, igus has strengthened its operations in Germany. The acquisition of elko Verbindungstechnik will enhance assembly capacities in southern Germany, particularly for customer-specific systems in the automotive and machine tool industries. 

Moreover, igus continues to streamline its processes through automation at its Cologne site, including the use of AGVs (automated guided vehicles) and patented crimp towers.
