EnviroSystems, a US-based subsidiary of The Anpath Group, which is focused on safe infection prevention technologies, has won approval to add additional claims to its disinfectant/sanitiser.

This approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allows the Mooresville-based company in North Carolina to promote the properties of EnviroTru to combat such superbugs as MRSA and Vancomycin Resistant Enterococcus faecalis.

The state registration process, should be completed with the majority of states within 30 days.

EnviroTru is a multi-purpose deodorising cleaner that is effective against numerous organisms, and also meets EPA requirements for toxicity. The disinfectant does not require protective clothing, gloves or special ventilation

J. Lloyd Breedlove, president and ceo of Anpath Group, said: "We are confident these additional claims will add to the growing market demand for EnviroTru. The timeliness of this registration is noteworthy considering the increased incidence of MRSA cases reported in public settings; particularly schools."

He added: "These claims are a small part of our aggressive development and testing program intended to expand our product offering. Moreover, while the ability to kill potentially harmful microorganisms is important, it is just as important that the biocide have a favourable profile for health and environmental effects. It is not acceptable to trade one problem for another by using potentially harmful chemicals to clean and disinfect. ESI has a single goal - reduce biological risks by destroying a wide range of disease-causing microorganisms with minimum risk to our customer, surfaces and the environment."
