Cleanroom technology market will be worth US$3.76bn by 2019, forecasts report
Driven by growth in the Asia-Pacific region
The global cleanroom technology market is expected to grow at a modest compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5% from 2014 to 2019, rising to $3.76bn from US$2.73bn, forecasts a new report.
The report, Cleanroom Technology Market by Equipment (HVAC System, HEPA Filter, Air Shower, Air Diffuser), Consumables (Apparel, Gloves, Wipes, Disinfectants), Construction (Hardwall, Softwall), & by End User (Pharmaceutical, Biotech) – Global Forecast to 2019, published by MarketsandMarkets, finds that the market has experienced steady growth in the past few years, driven by stringent healthcare regulations, the emergence of biologics, a growing healthcare industry in developing countries, and more use of cleanrooms in the medical devices industry. Further, the growing healthcare industry in developing regions such as China and India would provide extensive growth opportunities.
However, the report says the high cost associated with the installation and use of cleanrooms could restrain the growth of the market during the forecast period.
In 2013, North America was the major market for cleanroom technology, with around a 38% share, followed by Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Rest of the World. A developed healthcare industry; significant presence of pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries; and stringent healthcare regulations contributed to the large market shares of North America and Europe.
But the majority of the growth in the cleanroom technology market is expected to come from the Asia-Pacific region during 2014 to 2019, where it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.2%, mainly owing to an increasing number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology production facilities, initiatives from governments for safety and efficacy of healthcare products, and rising demand for better quality healthcare products, says the report.
But the majority of the growth in the cleanroom technology market is expected to come from the Asia-Pacific region
China and India would be the fastest growing regions for healthcare cleanroom technology markets during the forecast period.
The global healthcare cleanroom technology market is highly fragmented with a large number of small and regional players. Most of the companies in this market are providing a specific product segment in one particular region only. However, some of the global players have a significant presence across the globe and to maintain their market position, are continuously making product launches, and getting involved in mergers and acquisitions, agreements and collaborations, and geographic expansions. Increasing competitiveness is expected to drive innovation in the market, the report says.
The report categorises a cleanroom as an area or room which has a controlled environment in terms of the level of contamination of dust, airborne particles, microbes, water vapour and chemical vapours. Cleanrooms also provide control over environmental parameters such as temperature, pressure and humidity and see wide use in aseptic processing of healthcare products.
