Cherwell Laboratories, a UK supplier of microbiology media and instruments for the pharmaceutical and related industries, has recruited Iain Wren as its new Service Manager. He replaces Martin Saunders, who is retiring after 12 years with the company.
Wren will head Cherwell’s Engineering Department, which is responsible for routine servicing and calibration of SAS microbial air monitoring equipment, in addition to the firm's own manufacturing equipment and cleanroom services.
He joins Cherwell after 22 years with the RAF. Here he served in 55 countries, initially as a Ground Electrical Engineer, before spending 12 years as an Engineering Manager and then five years sharing his expertise by teaching.
As well as degree-level electrical engineering/electronics, Wren holds qualifications in electrical installation, design and inspection, and has broad experience ranging from generators and air conditioning systems to X-ray systems and vehicles.
Cherwell has been supplying the UK market with the SAS range of microbial air samplers for over 30 years. The range includes portable hand held units, a compressed air sampling device and an isolator specific unit, all of which provide benefits for specific environmental monitoring purposes.
Cherwell’s expertise is primarily focused on the pharmaceutical and related industries; however, microbial air monitoring is increasingly being used for evaluating hospital operating theatres, office ventilation space and food manufacturing.
