A new Brande of chairman
David E Brande has been named chairman of the International Organisation for Standardisation Technical Committee (ISO/TC) 209, the authority on the development and maintenance of standards for cleanrooms and associated controlled environments.
He replaces Richard A Matthews, who chaired ISO/TC 209 from its inception in 1993 until his retirement last year.
A director at the US subsidiary of the life science engineering and consultancy company NNE, Brande will remain ISO chairman until 2011. His first major task will be to head the Beijing meeting of ISO’s technical committee in September 2006, where ISO 14644 parts 1 and 2, which deal with air cleanliness classification and frequency and specifications for testing respectively, will be re-evaluated.
Brande has been active for more than 11 years on ISO/TC 209, and has served as an expert advisor to US delegates voting on ISO 14644-3 cleanrooms and associated controlled environments – Part 3: Test Methods. He founded Contamination Control Technologies Inc., which was acquired by NNE in 2005.
