VR provides impervious, puncture and cold-crack resistant protection and has been designed to replace vinyl and other traditional plastics

VR Protective Wear, introduced by PolyConversions, is a proprietary line of protective apparel that is 100% vinyl- and latex-free. The clothing line’s vinyl-free credentials are considered more environmentally-friendly, the company says.

VR provides impervious, puncture and cold-crack resistant protection and has been designed to replace vinyl and other traditional plastics, according to PolyConversions. The materials are odourless and contain no toxic substances or plasticisers, and can be safely landfilled or incinerated without harm to the environment, according to the product's manufacturer.

PolyConversions said its VR line can replace conventional protective garments made of vinyl and other traditional materials intended to safeguard cleanroom and non-cleanroom employees from potential chemical or bio-hazard contamination. The line includes aprons, sleeves, gowns, sleeve gloves, boots and shoe covers.

PolyCo manufactures personal protective wear that is especially adaptable to the low particle and electrostatic requirements of critical (cleanroom) environments. VR Protective Wear is said to provide excellent durability and chemical splash resistance and has been proven superior to traditional vinyl (PVC) garments.

“Because of its exceptional chemical resistance, low particle count, and surface resistivity, VR Protective Wear is becoming the product of choice in Class 100 cleanroom applications,” the company says. Also, VR material has a very low attraction to radioactive particles and offers perfect protection in the handling and management of radioactive wastes and other radioactive contaminated materials.

PolyWear Disposable Gowns are said to provide light-weight impervious protection against bio-hazards and are in compliance with FDA’s liquid and aerosol blood resistance testing requirements.
