Possessing a PhD in Microbiology and a wealth of scientific experience gained through an extensive research career in academia as well as commercial environments, Dr Karavolos specialises in the fields of molecular microbiology, molecular biology and biological health & safety.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Dr Karavolos has worked in various established UK Universities on a number of clinically significant infectious pathogens including Salmonella Typhi and Staphylococcus. Most recently he has been in charge of Health and Safety for a company specialising in precision biology products involving the Hepatitis B Virus.
Dr Karavolos has delivered numerous presentations to a wide variety of audiences on important aspects of bacterial pathogenesis and infectious diseases, and he has also produced invaluable peer-reviewed publications covering a wide range of topics including Gram-positive and Gram-negative microbial pathogen physiology and genetics.
Dr Karavolos is a full member of the Microbiology Society, the Institute of Safety in Technology and Research as well as the Higher Education Academy.
