Austria-based lighting specialist Zumtobel has supplied a comprehensive package of general, industrial, and emergency lighting solutions for InoBat’s new battery cell production and research facility in Voderady, Slovakia.
InoBat is a Slovakia-based developer and manufacturer of customised battery solutions for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The newly built site, delivered in 2024 by general contractor Takenaka Europe, represents the first battery cell production facility of its kind in Slovakia, combining manufacturing, research, and administrative functions under one roof.
The growing demands of e-mobility and advanced battery technologies place increasingly complex requirements on cleanrooms
Given the demanding conditions typically associated with battery cell production, including extremely dry, controlled environments and exposure to mechanical and chemical stresses, only highly robust and reliable lighting systems were suitable for the application.
In the facility’s packaging and distribution centre, Zumtobel installed its CRAFT II plus LED high bay luminaires, delivering up to 50,000 lumens while maintaining resistance to aggressive conditions and temperature extremes.
The luminaires feature advanced thermal management, ensuring durability and operational stability in challenging industrial settings.
InoBat’s open-plan offices host Zumtobel’s TECTON continuous-row lighting system, paired with MIREL luminaires, which combine high visual comfort with a modern industrial aesthetic.

The black housings blend organically into the open office ceilings with exposed pipes, creating an industrial, modern look.
This theme is continued in the foyer and reception areas.
PANOS downlights complement the general lighting provision, providing a consistent and functional lighting scheme across public and working spaces.
To support operational safety across the site, Zumtobel supplied its CROSSIGN safety sign luminaires and RESCLITE emergency lighting systems, ensuring clear and visible escape routes in all areas, including external environments.
Black housings integrate seamlessly with open ceiling designs
Further enhancing the facility’s specialist spaces, Zumtobel’s sister brand Thorn provided lighting for the plant’s wet and dry laboratories, changing rooms, and circulation areas.
The extensive scope of supply across various facility types, from cleanrooms to laboratories and office environments, demonstrated the breadth of Zumtobel Group’s portfolio for complex industrial projects.
Zumtobel also confirmed that its CLEAN luminaire range has been further developed through this project, resulting in the first luminaire on the market certified specifically for dry cleanroom applications.
