Validair Diamond Scientific (VDS) has installed a new cleanroom at its Chester-Le-Street HQ for R&D and training.
The cleanroom validation consultancy has announced it is using the new facility for hands-on training to develop the knowledge of its field service team as part of a continuous improvement drive.
In addition, as an R&D resource, the cleanroom allows VDS to conduct research on fault finding, rectification works, room pressure balancing and so on.
It had to be exceptionally flexible in its performance and functionality as we want to push the boundaries of what’s possible in our experiments
"It’s also helping us to improve procedures and refine our techniques – and to perform experiments and case studies that support our prestigious UKAS accreditation," the company stated.
In order to build the new cleanroom, VDS worked with Total Clean Air on its design with very specific objectives.
"It had to be exceptionally flexible in its performance and functionality as we want to push the boundaries of what’s possible in our experiments. By causing various operating parameters to underperform, we can make it FAIL! Which in turn means that we can replicate challenging real-life situations with failing cleanrooms and develop strategies to resolve these sorts of critical issues," the company explained. "Of course, the facility had to be cost-effective as well. Total Clean Air came good and built us the cleanroom that we need."
Operations Manager, Ian McGee, says he is genuinely excited about the prospect of developing his team’s knowledge alongside the ability to train, assess and examine operatives’ levels of competence, as well as providing refresher training in a dedicated controlled environment.
