Angstrom has been appointed to build a hybrid cleanroom for US-based Plexus Corp in Scotland.
Plexus Corp is a global electronic manufacturing services company, providing design, engineering, and manufacturing services across various industries. They specialise in assisting clients with complex and high-reliability products from concept to production.
The over 10,000-person-strong company has been expanding in Scotland a lot in recent years, and even received a £1.07 m grant from Scottish Enterprise in 2019 as part of a £3.21 million R&D project being undertaken by the company.
The brief also included a softwall curtain divide to create an area separate from the main room
The new cleanroom
Hybrid cleanroom in this case means a combination of hardwall and softwall panels.
The Angstrom projects team will work alongside Plexus Corp, fulfilling their brief to design and build a 30m x 15m cleanroom facility, whilst at the same time producing a smaller, temporary, hybrid cleanroom.
Designed in Lancaster and built on-site in Scotland, the temporary cleanroom is a 5m x 10m hybrid structure, meaning a combination of both hardwall and softwall panels, and features HEPA filtration, achieving ISO Class 7 cleanroom classification.
The brief also included a softwall curtain divide to create an area separate from the main room that is used as both a change area and a pre-cleanroom inspection area.
