Egypt's premier institution for space technology and Earth observation, The National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) has installed an ISO Class 8 cleanroom facility.
The facility is designed to support the assembly and testing of small satellites, including CubeSats and CanSats.
The new cleanroom is fully equipped with advanced instrumentation tailored to the specific requirements of small satellite development.
The facility is positioned as a collaborative hub for Egypt’s growing space sector
The controlled environment ensures particulate control and contamination mitigation in line with ISO 14644-1:2015 standards for Class 8 cleanrooms.
In addition to its technical capabilities, the facility is positioned as a collaborative hub for Egypt’s growing space sector.
NARSS has extended an open invitation to aerospace companies, universities, and research institutions to engage in joint research and development projects, specialised training programmes, student graduation projects, and other initiatives aimed at advancing space science and technology.

Founded in 1991, NARSS operates under Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and serves as the country’s primary institution for satellite technology development, earth observation research, and remote sensing applications.
The authority has been instrumental in national space projects, including the design and launch of EgyptSat satellites and capacity-building initiatives within the region.
This cleanroom installation marks another milestone in Egypt’s space programme, reflecting continued investment in infrastructure to support domestic and regional space science capabilities.
