German packaging company Changzhou facility has announced plans to build a new plant in China. Jari Tevajarvi, the Asia plastic packaging VP, said the investment is in response to the high demand in the region for production of plastic containers.
Production is scheduled to begin in the second half of this year and will be carried out in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom.
"We have decided to build another plant in China in addition to the locations in Europe, India, and America.
“From this base, we can supply many of our customers in the Asia region and strongly support even better those customers who want to access the regulated US pharmaceutical market with their drugs packed into our products,' he said.
The Changzhou facility will be used for the production of pharmaceutical containers with closures and dropper bottles with accessories. The product portfolio will include the Duma Twist-off container models and Triveni containers with an induction seal.
Gerresheimer added that all containers will comply with the European Pharmacopoeia and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) requirements.
Gerresheimer focuses on delivering speciality glass and plastic products for pharmaceutical, cosmetics and other industries.
The company operates production facilities across Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.
