US-based Edwards Mechanical Construction has completed the prefabrication of an industrial cleanroom.
The team from Edwards Electrical & Mechanical were tasked with the design and build of the new cleanroom from a long-term client.
Troy Walls, Director of Mechanical Construction, told Cleanroom Technology that the new cleanroom is for aerospace manufacturing.
Walls explained in a LinkedIn post that the new ISO Class 7 cleanroom was designed to accommodate around 60,000 CFM of conditioned air within approximately 5,000 sqft, equipped with 120 4‘ x 2‘ HEPA filters supply diffusers.
"To ensure timeliness, we initiated the prefabrication process for all the ductwork, including hangers and insulation, in preparation for installation," Walls said.
We have meticulously executed a dry run of the process in our prefab shop
Walls went on to discuss the highlight of the project which involved hoisting the pre-built ductwork 28 feet into the air and strategically manoeuvring it into the interstitial space before its final placement.
"As a testament to our commitment to excellence, we have meticulously executed a dry run of the process in our prefab shop, capturing every meticulous detail in a video to ensure the final installation goes in smoothly," Walls enthused.
The Indianapolis-based company is owned by MEP Holdings and provides electrical, mechanical, service and construction solutions.
