Cherwell, an Analytichem company specialising in cleanroom microbiology solutions, has launched a new range of plated prepared media.
The new Redipor (trademarked) TwistLock prepared media plates incorporate a secure locking lid mechanism and a GS1 DataMatrix barcode on a side label.
Designed to improve sample security, contamination control, and workflow efficiency, the plates address the increasing focus on data integrity and operational resilience within the sector.
The addition of TwistLock options to Cherwell’s Redipor prepared media portfolio reflects an industry-wide move towards more standardised, risk-based EM practices.

By aligning with the principles set out in GMP Annex 1 and ICH Q9, the new plates offer enhanced traceability and compatibility with laboratory automation, supporting integration with LIMS and electronic batch record systems.
Key features of the plates include the TwistLock lid, which secures the plate contents against contamination during handling and transportation, and side-labelling with GS1 barcoding to aid sample traceability.
The design also facilitates automated colony counting and is intended to reduce operator handling errors, potentially minimising the risk of costly retesting and improving laboratory efficiency.
As with the broader Redipor range, TwistLock plates are available in both Petri and contact plate formats, supplied triple-wrapped and gamma irradiated, offering a six-month shelf life.

Bespoke options remain a hallmark of the Redipor offering, with customers able to request specific media formulations, fill volumes and packaging formats to meet their individual requirements.
Manufactured at Cherwell’s Bicester, Oxfordshire facility, the UK prepared media manufacturing site for Analytichem, the new range strengthens the security of local supply to the UK pharmaceutical and medical device markets.
The TwistLock plates will also be produced at Analytichem Group sites in the United States and the Netherlands, supporting global distribution and offering pharmaceutical manufacturers a wider choice of EM sampling solutions.
The new range is designed to support pharmaceutical and medical manufacturers in meeting the growing demands of environmental monitoring (EM) and regulatory compliance.
Commenting on the launch, Yoggya De Silva, Microbiology Product Specialist at Cherwell, said: “Meeting Annex 1 and other key regulatory requirements by ensuring data integrity and reducing contamination risk in sterile product manufacturing processes is a critical need. The launch of our new locking lid Redipor TwistLock prepared media plates, provides an answer to the demand for ever-increasing vigilance and resilient microbial EM programmes.”
