Jenoptik Optical Systems, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance optical solutions, has expanded its manufacturing operations in Florida, US.
The international company has opened a new ISO 14644 Class 5 cleanroom with state-of-the-art filtration technology for high-precision optical assemblies to support applications with demanding cleanliness requirements, such as semiconductor and space flight instrumentation.
Additionally, Jenoptik has extended site capabilities by investing in a new thermal vacuum chamber in the cleanroom. The Class 5 cleanroom complements the pre-existing ISO 14644 Class 7 cleanroom and triples the amount of cleanroom space in Florida.
Jenoptik’s continued expansion in Florida is the direct result of customer volume requirements for the company’s products. This new facility complements the cleanroom capacity in Huntsville, Alabama. The Huntsville facility is purpose-built to meet the rigorous requirements of leading-edge semiconductor-related manufacturing activities.
Jay Kumler, President of Jenoptik Optical Systems in North America, said: “We are investing in differentiating technologies, advanced equipment and employees, and we are committed to meeting our customers’ expectations for higher levels of cleanliness and contamination control.”
Leading equipment manufacturers around the globe rely on Jenoptik’s products to build semiconductor devices, telecommunications equipment, digital projection, mobile devices, augmented reality, industrial automation and connected vehicles. Our optical systems are helping lead the digital transformation and internet of things.
As an integrated photonics group, Jenoptik divides its activities in three segments: Optics & Life Science, Mobility and Defence & Civil Systems. Its customers around the world mainly include companies in the semiconductor equipment manufacturing industry, automotive and automotive supplier industry, medical technology, security and defence technology as well as the aviation industry.
In regards Optical Systems, Jenoptik is one of the few development and production partners worldwide for optical and micro optical systems and precision components. It also possesses expertise in the development and manufacture of micro optics for beam shaping used in the semiconductor industry and laser material processing.
The group's holding company and corporate center, JENOPTIK AG, based in Jena, Germany, said that in the first nine months of 2017, the Optics & Life Science segment posted a strong increase in revenue of 16.3% to Euros191.3 million compared to Euro164.5 m in 2016. As in the first half-year, this performance was driven by a continuation of good business with solutions for the semiconductor equipment industry. The Healthcare & Industry business unit also performed well.
