Eriks, the industrial engineering solutions provider, is building a clean manufacturing facility (CMF) in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. Daan Heijbroek, Head of Group Communications, told CT the new infrastructure should be operational in summer 2019.
A global company, Eriks serves 22 sectors of industry in the Netherlands.
The new infrastructure will produce hoses and gaskets for the food, pharma and semiconductor industries. It will also be used for cleaning and packaging.
"To keep up with growth in a number of these industrial sectors, and support our customers’ further product innovation, we have decided to build a substantially larger cleanroom next to our existing one," Heijbroek explained.
This new cleanroom has been set up in the facility located at the largest site of Eriks in the Netherlands.
Heijbroek explained: "By smarter use of space, we’ve managed to free sufficient area to construct a substantially larger cleanroom facility. The existing cleanroom remains operational as well."

The CMF will also house a rapid prototyping unit for Eriks' sealing and polymer business unit. "This unit can quickly make prototypes using rubber and 3D printing," Heijbroek said.
Dutch building company BAM Interflow has been entrusted with the construction. The project is on 1,000sqm, two-storey production facility including 700sqm with conditioned spaces and a 300sqm ISO Class 6 cleanroom on the first floor.
