Polymeric flooring from Dycem, a leading UK manufacturer of contamination control floorcoverings and mats, has demonstrated its ability to improve significantly airborne reduction counts by 60%, according to findings from a new study.
As well as controlling contamination at floor level, the Dycem Wallpaper Study, conducted by Larry Ranta of CPC Laboratories on 21 May, also revealed that using Dycem’s wall panels alone improved airborne particulate removal by 46%.
The newly launched wall panels – not found anywhere else in the industry – have been designed to enhance Dycem’s existing products by offering a range of new benefits to meet the specific requirements of controlling airborne contaminants.
Unguarded proliferation of airborne contamination can have serious consequences, especially where environmental sterility is a concern. A single microbe in a batch of aseptic drugs could cause the entire batch to be quarantined or scrapped, leading to supply shortages, financial consequences, product recalls, FDA warning letters or even company shutdown.
By installing Dycem floor and wall systems, the risks are dramatically reduced through the reduction of contamination in all areas. Furthermore, Dycem can contribute to lower cleanroom maintenance costs as Facilities departments avoid the problems of air handling and HEPA air filtrations becoming overwhelmed, necessitating a change of filters and the cost of shutting down the cleanroom, through a significant reduction in airborne particles. The high performance coverings also ensure that there is no need for increased airflow.
ISO cleanroom standards and cGMP necessitates that the introduction of particles into critical areas is minimised and recognise the importance of implementing an effective contamination control regime.
Dycem’s ingenious contamination control zones play a vital part of an integrated contamination control programme by preventing 99.9% of foot and wheelborne particles entering critical areas. Dycem products are silicon free, DOP-free, non-outgassing and non-particulating. All products are simple to install and remain effective for up to five years.
