Two US-based cleanroom and lab experts, SCS Construction Management and Plastic Concepts Inc (PCI), have joined forces.
The partnership uses both SCS and PCI's separate expertise to create a more comprehensive entity that can provide end-to-end solutions for laboratory and cleanroom environments.
Both companies are based in Massachusetts, so they are geographically well placed for the collaboration.
SCS specialises in strategic renovation, build-outs, and facility improvements, taking projects from concept stage to completion.

PCI delivers precision-engineered, purpose-built solutions to tackle complex process and organisational challenges. These solutions target the pharma, biotech, semiconductor, medical device, university, and industrial sectors.
Product lines relevant to cleanroom applications from PCI include: wet process stations, storage cabinets (dessicator, chemical, garment), fume hoods, pass-thru ports, casework and glove boxes.
As part of being a supplier of these products, PCI's abilities also include expertise in designing layouts in cleanrooms.
Both companies have over 30 years of experience in their respective niches. By integrating SCS’s expertise in pre-construction planning/design, project management, and final project close-outs with PCI’s process knowledge, clients benefit from a more seamless workflow that the companies say "minimises risk and maximises efficiency".
The new process for the new combined effort:
- Pre-construction: It starts by understanding the client's vision, evaluating existing conditions, providing a feasibility analysis, developing budgets and cash flow projections, value engineering to optimise resources, planning logistics, qualifying subcontractors, pulling permits and coordinating with municipalities, and performing compliance assessment.
- Equipment design and layout: A review of process equipment needs, design lay-outs based on workflow requirements, design and fabricate equipment, full service installation, pull in third parties to certify and perform IQs/OQs/PQs
- Construction: The organisations assume all management of the project - onboarding of subcontractors, utility coordination, implementation of safety, budget management, design change management, reporting and documentation, MEP system commissioning, weekly team meetings
- Field operations: Full-time supervision, logistics planning, safety orientations, meetings, and third-party inspections, quality control oversight, equipment & utility training, commissioning, progress updates, inspections, and surveys, final project close-out
This collaboration ensures that every phase—from initial layout and design to field supervision and final project closeout—is executed by a team with technical rigour and operational knowledge. The result is a streamlined delivery model that is aimed to not only meet stringent industry standards but also to accelerates time-to-completion and enhance long-term performance.
