Moderna has inaugurated its first laboratory outside of the US for quality trials of its messenger RNA vaccines.
The new lab is located in Madrid, Spain and the Minister of Health, José Miñones, attended the event at the end of April to celebrate the occasion and recognise the important role of the pharmaceutical industry in the country.
Cleanroom construction expert Albian Group has been significantly involved in the construction of these facilities for the biotechnology company, one of the world's leading producers of mRNA vaccines.
The Albian team has executed several works of the project, among which are:
- Entire HVAC installation
- Farma panel and door system for the laboratory area
- Pass-box equipment
- Plant Control Management (BMS)
- Control of positive and negative pressure gradients in the different areas and rooms of the laboratory.
This new laboratory thus makes Spain, together with the US, the only enclave capable of completing the production process of all Moderna mRNA vaccines.
"We are proud to have been able to be part of this milestone, as well as to make possible the creation of facilities in which life-saving biological products are manufactured," the company stated on LinkedIn.
