3M’s new online product selector tool showcases the firms coveralls, lab coats and accessories. The selector tool enables easy access to product information enabling users to identify the most appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) against skin hazards in the workplace.
Louisa Perry, product manager for 3M’s Safety Solutions Division, explains: “Potential skin hazards can vary across industry sectors so it is important to offer different types of clothing to protect workers, keep them comfortable and meet the legal requirements of PPE in the working environment.
“To meet these varied requirements, we offer a range of protective coveralls, lab coats and accessories that cover a broad spectrum of robustness and protection; from general purpose designs for light duty work to more advanced models with specialist features for more hazardous conditions. The new online selector tool provides summary information on each product, including certification, features and benefits, applications, suitability and material information – everything the customer needs to help them make an informed decision.”
3M’s coveralls feature breathable panels for increased comfort and specialist fabric treatments for increased alcohol and oil resistance. Most models feature a three-panel hood for enhanced compatibility with additional PPE, plus two-way zips for added on/off convenience. Storm flaps provide additional protection, while seamless shoulder and sleeve tops provide comfort and fewer entry points for contaminants.
Further options include protection against certain biohazards and nuclear particles, as well as anti-static properties and limited flame resistance through a specialist fabric coating. For comfort and ease of movement, the designs incorporate extra material in the arms and legs and some models feature knitted cuffs and an elasticated waist and ankles.
