Viral safety is one of the major concerns in the development and production of biopharmaceuticals and biologics. Huge efforts are made to prevent viral contamination and a series of guidelines has been published dedicated exclusively to this subject. The nature of viruses poses particular challenges to the detection, inactivation and removal of viruses. All of these topics will be discussed at this course. It will also provide a sound introduction to TSE (Transmissable spongiform encephalopathy)
