IDA Ireland’s facility will house Meissner’s first European cleanroom and create more than 150 jobs

Meissner Filtration Products has announced that it will expand its manufacturing operation by opening a facility in Ireland. The new facility will develop on the building that is already on the land and will include a state of the art cleanroom.

The cleanroom will be used to manufacture Single-Use Systems (SUS) that support biopharmaceuticals and pharmaceuticals that benefit Meissner’s client base.

Commenting on the announcement Christopher Meissner, CEO of Meissner said: “We have seen substantial growth in our SUS portfolio over the past 10 years and ensuring we have capacity in excess of customer demand is critical. Additionally, we acutely recognize the value of manufacturing proximate to our customer base as well as geographically diversifying our manufacturing footprint. After an extensive search, we determined that Ireland was the ideal location to open our first European manufacturing facility.”

California-based Meissner currently has a manufacturing campus in Camarillo, California, US, and a European logistics hub outside of Frankfurt, Germany. The facility in Castlebar, Ireland, represents its first manufacturing facility in Europe.

The current advanced technology building on the site in the town of Castlebar, Mayo, Ireland was built by IDA Ireland. IDA is an investment promotion agency (IPA), a government agency designed to attract investors to the country. When Meissner begins operations, it will create more than 150 jobs in the area, benefitting the local economy.

The facility is predicted to be operational by Q1 2020.

Speaking at the announcement in Castlebar, Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring T.D. said: “This is tremendous news, which I greatly welcome. The creation of 150 jobs is a huge boost to the town, to county Mayo and the entire region. Less than a year ago, I attended the launch of the IDA’s Advanced Technology Building, where this company is locating. I know the availability of that state of the art facility was key to this company locating in Castlebar.”

Meissner has also purchased the land adjacent to the site to increase the 34,000 sqft facility to 100,000 sqft.
