MRC Systems' client, Mabion, has signed an agreement to manufacture Novavax's COVID-19 vaccine. Mabion's MRC cleanroom is now the second MRC cleanroom being utilised directly in the production of COVID-19 vaccines.

MRC is proud to have been involved in the construction of Mabion's cleanroom facility. This facility, spread over two floors, is utilising the MRC GRP cleanroom panelling system.

Mabion signed a framework agreement with Novavax for the transfer of the US company's COVID-19 vaccination technology. Mabion will become the first Polish company engaged in the worldwide effort to supply sufficient quantities of COVID-19 vaccines to serve the global need. The company will produce technical batches of antigen for Novavax.

In late January, Novavax announced that its vaccine candidate had proved to be 89.3% effective at preventing COVID-19 in participants in its phase 3 clinical trial in the UK, and around 86% effective at protecting against the UK variant.

Company journey

MRC Cleanrooms recently won an award at the MEA Business awards 2020. The award was for 'Best Cleanroom Design and Construction Company' across the Middle East and Africa.

MRC has also completed the fit-out of its new manufacturing facility on the outskirts of Malaga, Spain. Immediately at full capacity for the first 6 months, this facility is further reinforcing MRCs position as an international cleanroom wall and ceiling manufacturing company & turnkey project provider.

This facility will be predominantly manufacturing the MRC HPL partition, the younger brother of the premium MRC GRP partition system. This product is specifically designed to provide a more economical solution, when a durable, high-quality wall and ceiling system is still critical.

MRC HPL is a double-sided panel consisting of 6 mm fire resistant phenolic boards on both sides bonded to a customised internal aluminium subframe. The wall panel's surface provides a very high standard matt finish and gives a hard, non-porous, smooth, ledge free surface, easy to maintain and inert to organic and inorganic chemicals.

MRC HPL has been designed to fully integrate with the highly successful MRC GRP accessories and furniture.

"Product development has always been a key internal focus for MRC. This new manufacturing facility is a great development in MRC's 45 year history. Our product range now caters for all kinds of facility and all kinds of budgets, and we really look forward to seeing the growth across both our GRP and HPL panel ranges in the years to come," said Samuel Hussain, Sales Director.
