Hard-wearing overshoe goes the distance

A new hard-wearing disposable overshoe with conductive ribbon is now available from cleanroom garment manufacturer Contamination Control Apparel.

The overshoes have been designed in response to requests for an alternative to the normal disposable overshoes, which don’t last the shift in some lab and production facilities.

The shoes have antistatic, low-linting uppers made from DuPont’s Tyvek and clear PVC soles to give longer wear. The tops are elasticated and the conductivity is achieved through a conductive ribbon sewn onto the heel of the sole and up the back of the overshoe. The loose end of the ribbon is long enough to be tucked in and kept in contact with the wearer’s skin. The ribbon is impregnated with carbon and has a resistivity of 105-7ohm/square.

The shoes are available uncleaned in bulk or cleaned and individually packed in ready-to-use Steripacks.
