Handle cytotoxics with Berner non-latex gloves

Published: 30-Nov--0001

Helapet says the non-latex version of the German-made Berner glove for handling cytotoxics is soft and comfortable to wear and combines the lengthy breakthrough times associated with manufactured textiles with the stretchy qualities needed to fit onto an isolator cuff. The Houghton Regis, UK-based firm says this combination will give in excess of 480 minutes breakthrough time for cisplatin and 90 minutes for carmustine, while at the same time offering excellent grip and tactile sensitivity.

The beige, polymer-coated polychloroprene gloves are pliable enough to stretch over the cuff of an isolator and are strong to resist tearing, making them an ideal choice for aseptic units that are latex free, the company says.

The gloves are manufactured in compliance with EN 374-3:2003 and in line with PPE directive 89/686/EEC. www.helapet.com
