Anti-microbial cable management systems helps protect against hospital-acquire infections

Marshall-Tufflex’s antimicrobial cable management system is continuing to impress health trusts and hospital infection control managers across the UK, with more healthcare facilities investing in its ability to keep bacteria at bay.

The Hastings-based firm says its Bio Trunking Solutions are 99.9% effective against MRSA, Klebsiella Pneumonia, E-Coli and Salmonella, and a host of other bugs.

Silver ion technology is integrated into the cable management system during manufacture. The active antimicrobial agent is mixed throughout the PVC-U before the trunking profile is extruded, giving an even and thorough distribution. Because the antimicrobial is integral to the PVC-U it will not rub off. The system continues to work if the trunking is scratched or knocked, delivering 24-hour protection for the lifetime of the installation.

Bio Trunking Solutions have already been installed in hospital wards and ancillary facilities from Devon to Aberdeen. Most recently a system was installed at The University Hospital of North Tees, in Stockton-on-Tees, which chose Marshall-Tufflex’s Odyssey all-curved trunking. Its curves help repel dirt and aid cleaning.
