The Queen Square Brain Bank for Neurological Disorders, Institute of Neurology, University College London, has installed Bigneat Containment Technology fume cabinets in its histology laboratory.

The cabinets are ductless and incorporate carbon filters for fume removal. Linda Kilford, senior research technician explains: "In the preparation of our samples and staining of slides we use xylene, ammonia, alcohols and formic acid. Using a general purpose filter coupled with a HEPA particulate filter, we can remove all these vapours."
